The event marked the culmination of a high-octane election season that saw Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerge as the single largest entity.
The TVK secured 118 seats in the assembly elections and successfully crossed the majority threshold with critical backing from a broad coalition including the Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK, and IUML. The atmosphere in Chennai was electric, with thousands of supporters and high-profile dignitaries converging at the venue. Prominent national leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, were in attendance to witness the transition of power, signifying the national importance of this regional shift.
The star-studded event also saw a strong presence from the film industry. Vijay’s parents, filmmaker S.A. Chandrasekhar and Shobha Chandrasekhar, were seated in the front row alongside popular actress Trisha Krishnan, highlighting the deep personal and professional roots of the new Chief Minister. Tight security was maintained across the city, with a massive police deployment ensuring the safety of the venue and the VIP guests.
